Fairfield/Westchester Code Camp

John and crew will be in Connecticut this weekend for the Fairfield/Westchester Code camp.  We attended last year and had a great time and met some awesome people.

John will be talking about mobile development and SQLce.

If you're in the area, stop by a say hello.

Well the code camp was a success.  about 150+ attendees and a great group of people.  Got a chance to renew friendships with some speakers and had a great time.  dinner afterwards was a little over the top, but MS's crew handled it with great aplomb!

The PowerPoint and code are here:

Atlanta and Agile

I was invited to an RDA conference on Automated Lifecycle Management in Atlanta to deliver a session on "Adopting Agile Methodologies in the Enterprise".  The entire conference was focused on decision makers and about 15 showed up.

My session went well and there was plenty of interest and a number of questions concerning how to do it.  Since we have recently gone through the same process, I was able to offer advice based on our experience.

I was able to meet a few folks from the Atlanta Alt.net community.  Chris Rauber, 2 guys from GunBrokers.com and John (Last name escapes me ... sorry).  I was hoping to get to see David Laribee or Shawn Wildermuth, but they were'nt available to attend.

I got to meet David Scruggs (Technical Evangelist) and Glen Gordon (DE).  Looking forward to a return to Atlanta.

MVP Book Project

A group of MVP's have gathered together to donate their time to a charitable project designed by Manning Press.  The book will be on SQL Server 2008 and is due out sometime in December.  I submitted my chapter on Data Management Strategies on Synchronization and Replication today.

My effort involves a discussion of Remote Data Access, Merge Replication and the Microsoft Sync Framework from the mobile standpoint of using SQL Server Compact Edition on the device and SQL Server 2008 on the desktop.

More information will be forthcoming as I receive final details.

CMAP Code Camp Fall Edition 2008

The CMAP code camp on October 25, 2008 was a rousing success.  Chris Steen and his group did a marvelous job once again.

I presented to well attended sessions on TDD with .nUnit and Compact Framework Development.

Philly Code Camp 2008.3

I was at the Philly Code Camp on October 11, 2008, to support the local community with its latest code camp edition.  We had nearly 450 attendees and 54 speakers (16 MVPs) so it was well worth while.

I delivered my session on Mobile Development with the .Net Compact Framework and SQL Server Compact Edition.

I attended a number of great sessions, especially Kevin Hazzard's Injecting Python code into c#.  Excellent.

Richmond Code Camp 2008.2

Just returned from another great Code Camp.  Andy Leonard, Kevin Israel and Kevin Hazzard did an excellent job in pulling off another code camp.  The new venue at the community college was tremendous.  Nice rooms, tables, and working equipment.

I got a chance to spend some time with some of the movers & shakers in the .net world:  Ted Neward, Amanda Laucher, Dana, Jessica Moss, Jess Chadwick and Chris Eargle.

Here is the demo stuff from the talk:
